Course Description
The ability to skillfully listen and communicate with others is the key to professional and personal success. However, many people
don’t understand why their communications are not effective, causing relationships with others to be negatively affected.
Effective Listening and Interpersonal Communication Skills is designed to give participants awareness and mastery of their communication
abilities. They will learn how to sharpen their listening and build an array of questioning techniques to fully engage others in
effective interchanges. Participants will also learn how to express themselves to efficiently describe an idea or make their point.
Objectives
Upon completion of this training, participants will:
Become aware of the strengths and limitations of their personal communication style.
Demonstrate superior listening skills to fully engage others and facilitate higher understanding.
Master probing skills to clarify deeper meaning during interpersonal exchanges.
Recognize the barriers to communication and acquire the skills to overcome them.
Clearly and concisely present a point of view, idea, or difference of opinion.
Target Audience
Executives, managers, sales and customer service professionals, engineers, service technicians, information technology personnel, and
any person who regularly interacts with others as part of his or her job.
Learning Methods
This is a facilitator-led training program that uses presentation, full group discussions, small group practices, and
application-planning activities. Manuals are provided for each participant. Application tools are also provided to help participants
transfer their acquired skills back to the job.
Duration
The training duration is four hours to one-day, depending on the design.
